Works are well underway at Old Whittington where Peter Duffy Limited is acting as Principal Contractor and Designer for the design and construction of a single wind turbine on behalf of Kelda Energy. Final preparations are being made on site, with foundation works now completed and alterations to the highway network well underway, for the delivery and installation of the 84 m high turbine which is being supplied by EWT. Located on the Yorkshire Water site at Old Whittington the turbine will have an estimated generating capacity of 1.6 Gigawatt hours of electricity annually equivalent to the average annual electricity demand of approximately 575 homes and it is estimated that it will be able to generate the equivalent of approximately 20-45 % of the water treatment site’s annual electricity needs.
