Job Title: Senior Project Manager
Reporting to: Framework Manager
Job purpose: Due to an increase in workload particularly within our AMP7 framework agreements we are currently looking to recruit for the following permanent position to work on a wide range of non-infrastructure and infrastructure projects throughout the Yorkshire region.
Peter Duffy Limited is a regional civil engineering contractor operating throughout Yorkshire and Humberside. Job Description: The successful candidate will lead and be accountable for managing a team of Project Managers in the delivery of complex multi-discipline water and wastewater projects, ensuring that projects are delivered in a safe manner, on time, to the required quality standards, meeting the acceptance criteria and achieving the expected financial outcomes.
Key duties:
- Responsible for the coordination and management of all waste/water infrastructure and network rehab project(s) within
their team. - Ensures the highest standards of safety and environmental protection are consistently maintained and meet the business policies across their team.
- Ensures that quality throughout project delivery is maintained and meets the business policies throughout their team.
- Ensures technical input, competency and expertise is best utilised within their team.
- Provides overall management of the design, procurement, sub-contract packages of work, DfMA/OSB, commissioning and
handover process across their team. - Provides timely production of regular reports (progress, programme, costs – as required) to senior managers.
- Ensures all projects are delivered in full compliance against Client requirements and business procedures.
- Promotes and embraces continuous improvement and ensures that any opportunities are effectively exploited.
- Ensures all Client targets are continuously achieved in relation to KPI metrics.
Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ)
- Ensures that all projects are delivered, as a minimum, in accordance with PDL and Client health, safety, environmental and quality standards throughout their team.
- Demonstrates safety excellence by striving to out-perform standard practice at every opportunity.
- Monitors and reviews supply chain performance.
Client Facing
- Builds and maintain relationships, specifically with the Client’s Senior Project Managers but also including representatives from the Client’s Engineering Team, Project Sponsor, Construction representative and SHEQ team. Other client stakeholders such as Operations, Water Production and Water Quality may also require liaison with on an ad-hoc basis.
- Coordinates and manages input from their team into the regular progress reports as required by the Client’s Project Manager.
- Active participation in Client meetings including monthly Progress Meetings.
- Ensures that the Client’s systems are utilised, and procedures followed, as required, including SharePoint, CCM, YorCDE, PMP.
Financial and Commercial
- Has a clear understanding and working knowledge of the NEC4 Contract as applied to the YWS AMP7 Framework.
- Ensures reviews of preliminary Contracts and Contract Data prior to execution by their team to ensure correctness.
- Ensures that all projects are administered and delivered in accordance with the Contract and Contract Data throughout their team.
- Has a clear understanding and insight into project budgets as tendered and ensures Project Managers within their team control
project budgets accordingly. - Maintains a continual oversight on the performance of actual vs planned cost across their team projects and provides feedback to Senior Managers and clients on project forecast and final outturn position.
- Ensures their team manages change and reports it to Senior Management.
- Ensures their team manages change through EWN and CE process to ensure cost and programme changes are captured and administered.
- Ensures procurement within their team is progressed in line with the project programme/schedule.
- Ensures supply chain value within their team is achieved through a competitive tendering process and challenge.
- Ensures effective management of all risks and opportunities associated with the project(s) is managed within their team.
- Ensures proactive programme and commercial management of key sub-contract packages is consistently maintained within their
team, and where risks are identified, reported to Senior Management.
Technical
- Maintains an oversight on all technical aspects and ensures the project team have a clear and consistent understanding of the
technical deliverables. - Ensures technical solution delivery is consistent across projects within their team from early detailed design to completion and commissioning.
- Ensures best practice, technical bulletins and lessons learned across the Framework are shared and utilised with their team.
- Ensures that projects have a design strategy established, communicated, and followed through the project(s) lifecycle.
- Ensures that all Technical Governance for projects is completed by their team at the appropriate times.
Supply Chain
- Ensuring Project Managers within their team manage supply chain involvement through the full project(s) lifecycle from design through to procurement, construction and commissioning.
- Ensures that PDL procedures are implemented by Project Managers with subcontracted supply chain and the responsibilities
therein are maintained through the project life cycle. - Ensures that opportunities for early involvement of the supply chain are identified and maximised within their team.
- Chairs periodic progress meetings with selected subcontractors and ensure the reporting of programme, financials, SHEQ and
progress is maintained. - Ensures that all supply chain contracts are administered in accordance with the terms of the specific subcontract documentation.
o Liaises with the Project Managers, including provision of feedback on performance and participation in performance review meetings.
People
- Management and coordination of, and delegation to, the assigned Project Manager, Site Management and Supervision staff.
- Undertakes regular appraisals of team members and ensures that training and development plans are supported and implemented.
- Continuous liaison with and coordination of Project Managers, project support staff including SHEQ, Planning, Commercial.
- Forecasting of staff requirements in a timely manner to ensure that the required resources are available to deliver the project(s).
- Reports to the Framework Manager on an informal ad-hoc basis and via internal Progress Meetings. Furthermore, provide informal
feedback to The Framework Manager and Operations Director on an ad-hoc basis - Provides feedback to Senior Management on individual’s performance through the Company’s appraisal system

Preferably Degree/HND/HNC qualified we are looking for engaged and passionate project managers who have a minimum of three years’

You should have a proactive approach to resolving unexpected technical difficulties, with a can-do attitude and enthusiasm to innovate and get the job done.
