Peter Duffy Limited is a successful civil engineering and utility contractor based in Wakefield, working throughout Yorkshire, Humberside and surrounding regions. Predominately working within the infrastructure and water industry sectors for over 45 years we are now looking to strengthen our delivery team with the appointment of a Works Manager.

With a minimum of 10 years’ experience in a similar role we are looking for someone to contribute to the achievement of the  organisation’s objectives of quality and continuous improvement specifically in relation to delivery of projects through mentoring and training within the delivery teams and to assist management to ensure we have succession in key roles.

The candidate should posses good man management and industry knowledge to be able to successfully:

Mentor operatives when experience and skill is lacking or when management have concerns about competency and support worker communication with the management team.

Work closely with the business managers to ensure that the workforce is fully trained and competent to carry out the tasks assigned

Identify any skill gaps and assist in identifying suitable candidates to support this

Assist in the recruitment process for operative roles

Verify the competency of new starters within their probationary period and assist to confirm satisfactory completion of probation

Work closely with business managers to ensure that new operatives are brought into the business to suit workload and cover operatives due to leave the business

Work with SHEQ team on Behavioural safety initiatives so that initiatives are embedded, ensuring a full buy in from all operatives and managers

Work with Site Managers and operatives to ensure high quality work is been delivered, provide advice and support where required

Work with Senior Managers to ensure the right operatives are placed on the right schemes carrying out the work most suited to their skill set

Provide additional H & S checks on site visited

Help to ensure that the company’s values are being demonstrated by all

Help identify and address problems and opportunities for the company

Minimum Qualifications:

Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS)

CSCS Card Holder

First Aid
