Description

We are seeking an Apprentice Civil Design Engineer working towards a qualification in Civil Engineering to join our engineering team. The role will involve contributing to the design of infrastructure and non-infrastructure utility projects within our Water Framework. From concept, detailed design through to construction and commissioning you will support our team of distinguished Engineers.

  • Working alongside the Design Engineers, performing internal and external activities associated with civil and drainage design, in line with client specifications and design standards.
  • Design duties will include preparation of design solutions at various stages of a project; preparation of drawings, reports, specifications, calcs and estimates; attendance at Client meetings.
  • Production of engineering drawings, including 3D or 2D.
  • Organising and assisting with design inputs (surveys and investigations) and assisting with the preparation of drawings, reports and specifications.
  • Preparation of land entry drawings.
  • Contributing to solutions for design challenges.
  • Helping with the administration of design assurance and quality control.
  • Assisting with the compilation and submission of completion information to successfully close out projects in a timely manner.
  • Create and maintain good relations with all stakeholders.
  • Collaborating with a wide range of multi-discipline inputs; monitoring and protecting our client relationships; assisting with planning and programming; commercial management and presenting & coordinating projects for audit.
  • Attend Engineering Expos and implement the very latest technologies in the Industry, staying up to date with modern developments.
  • Working in collaboration with other design disciplines to ensure the integrity of the overall design.

  • Being familiar with relevant Health & Safety regulations and to promote a culture of awareness within the team
  • Lead by example to others on site and implement best practice procedures within the team and site personnel
  • Participate in maintaining quality and environmental control procedures in accordance with ISO 9001and ISO 14001

As a minimum the person must have:

  • Onboarded in education and aiming for Degree qualification in Civil Engineering or similar equivalent.
  • Good people skills with the ability to contribute to the success of a team is essential.
  • Positive attitude and the willingness to learn and improve skills.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, planning and time management skills.
  • Full UK driving license.
